COFFEE CHAT

Sundays mean something different to everyone. Some indulge in acts of self-care, others sweat it out, while many individuals simply go through the motions of the day with fear and anxiety of the long week ahead looming over them (ie: the "Sunday Scaries") . If you are anything like me Sundays consist of waking up early, flipping pancakes (or making some other highly requested non-negotiable special breakfast item 🤪), running around playing with the kids, all while barely finding time to prepare for the week ahead. The weekend never seems long enough, especially with two wild children to chase after. I specifically remember thinking that I didn't have enough time to get things done on the weekend before kids. LOL.

During the week as a stay-at-home mom, I tend to drink my coffee however I can and as fast as I can. If we are being honest, it's mostly lukewarm/cold or reheated in the microwave. Long before I had children, I decided coffee was on of my favorite things, so on the weekends my husband runs around with the kids while I savor a (mostly) warm cup of joe before it gets totally cold (after getting up and down from the breakfast table 7593749374 times, iykyk).

Because coffee is one of my favorite things, more specifically espresso, I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorite espresso/coffee makers with you.

Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe Coffee and Espresso Machine by De'Longhi with Milk Frother

Current favorite: Nespresso VertuoPlus Deluxe Coffee and Espresso Machine by De'Longhi with Milk Frother
Pros:
Easy to use
Quick and delicious espresso
Wide variety of coffee and espresso pod options to choose from, both caffeinated and decaffeinated
Frother is easy to use and has both a hot and cold setting for milk of choice
Cons:
Uses pods rather than freshly ground coffee/espresso beans, but Nespresso has an excellent pod recycling program (please read more about it here.)
Pods only sold at select stores and online

Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine

All time favorite: Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine
Pros:
Most aesthetically pleasing
Delicious freshly ground espresso beans
Fun experience
Cons:
Pricey $$$
More cleanup involved
Frother is finicky and takes some time to get used to
Takes more time to make a cup of coffee
Takes up a lot of counter space

Keurig K-Cafe Single Serve K-Cup Coffee, Latte and Cappuccino Maker

Old faithful: Keurig K-Cafe Single Serve K-Cup Coffee, Latte and Cappuccino Maker
Pros:
Very easy to use
Wide variety of K-cups available in stores and online
Convenient
Frother has both a hot an cold setting
Cost, more affordable options in a variety of sizes especially if you don't want or need the espresso features
Cons:
In my opinion, flavors are not as rich
Uses K-cups instead of freshly brewed coffee, but Keurig has a recycling program (read more about it here)

There are so many other wonderful espresso/coffee makes on the market, but I wanted to tell you about a few of my favorites that I've personally used! (I have tried using a French press regularly in the past, but could not for the life of me get the coffee to taste the way I wanted it to, obviously user error 😳)

If you're a mama (or parent) like me, I hope you get to enjoy your (mostly) warm cup of coffee this weekend while yelling over your very loud but adorable children in an attempt to have some semblance of an adult conversation with your significant other.

But no matter who you are, I hope you get to take a few minutes to yourself this Sunday to do something you love, even if it's as simple as drinking a freshly brewed coffee.

xo Katie
